Pocosins, like bogs, have lots of sphagnum moss and nutrient-poor acidic soil and water. Like bogs, they get most of their moisture from precipitation. Evergreen plants like loblolly pine, holly, bay pine, and pond pine are common in pocosins. The venus flytrap is also found in the pocosin.
