Eulacestomatidae - Ploughbirds

The Eulacestomatidae family of birds has only one species—the wattled ploughbill (Eulacestoma nigropectus). It lives in the mountain forests of New Guinea.

It’s small, with a stubby bill and colorful feathers. The male has a bright yellow face and a pink wattle (a fleshy flap of skin) near its bill.

These birds mostly eat insects and are known for their secretive behavior, hiding in thick forest plants.
