Myzopodidae - Old World Sucker-Footed Bats

There are two species of bat in this family, the eastern sucker-footed bat (Myzopoda aurita) and Schliemann’s sucker-footed bat (Myzopoda schliemanni). They are small bats found in Madagascar.

Schliemann’s sucker-footed bat was only discovered as a new species in 2007. It is found in the dry western forests of Madagascar.

They have large ears and suction cups on their limbs that they use to cling to leaves.
