There are two species of birds in this family. They are found in cloud forests in Central America and South America.
They are medium-sized, colorful birds. They have stout bodies, large heads, and strong bills, which help them eat a variety of foods.
Most of their diet is made up of fruits, but they also eat insects and small animals.
