There are 18 species of domestic and wild animals in this family. They are originally from Eurasia and Africa, but today they are found in all parts of the world.
They are medium-sized animals with sloping foreheads, barrel-shaped bodies, small eyes, small ears, and lightly furred bodies. They have long, mobile snouts that they use to root for food in the ground.
They have a two-chambered stomach and are omnivores.
Species include: the common warthog, the Vietnam warty pig, the pygmy hog, the wild boar, and the Javan pig.
