Vertebrata - Vertebrates

All vertebrates have a vertebral column. The vertebral column, or backbone, surrounds and protects the nerve cord.

Vertebrates also have a well-developed brain, a pair of eyes, a circulatory system with a heart, a pharynx, and a mouth with muscles!

Humans, birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish are all vertebrates. There are seven living classes of vertebrates.
