Frogs and toads are found in all parts of the world, except for the polar regions.
Anura means without a tail. Adult frogs and toads have no tails! Frogs and toads have long, powerful rear legs that help them leap long distances. They have short bodies, bulging eyes, and a long and usually sticky tongue that they use to catch their prey.
Frogs and toads lay eggs, and their young spend part of their lives as tadpoles. Tadpoles have gills and tails and live under water. There are over 5,000 species in this order.
