Cuculiformes - Cuckoos, Hoatzins, Turacos

There are around 170 species in this order. They are found in all parts of the world, but most species are found in Australia, South America, Asia, and Africa.

 

Birds in this order have bills that curve down and pointed wings. Most species live in the forest and are brown or gray in color and have long tails and strong legs.

Most species spend their time in the forest in trees. Some species, like the roadrunner, are ground-dwellers and live in dry desert areas. Most species eat insects, but some eat lizards, and other small animals.
