This family includes around 93 bird species. They are found in North and South America. They are found in forests, brushlands, deserts, and marshes.
They are small birds, measuring 3.5 to 8.5 inches in length. They have slender, long, downcurved bills; short, rounded wings; and a short, square or rounded tail.
Most species are brown in color with brown, black, or white spots, streaks, or bars.
They usually forage on or near the ground for worms, insects, and other invertebrates.
